The inspiration and design for Wild Places has no particular origin (except perhaps Rousseau) but is simply a fanciful, tropical jungle scene. This early painting established many characteristics of paintings that followed. The highly detailed background and use of motifs, such as the fan design across the back of the trees and the rose pattern on the jungle floor, is a necessary element of Trish's style and a method for linking paintings.  She takes the risk of trusting her own instincts rather than adhering to established design standards.
